Cerro Sombrero Town is the capital of the Primavera region, located on the eastern part of the Grande Island of Tierra del Fuego in Chile. Cerro Sombrero (54 meters high) is a notable hill in the river plain called “Río Side,” this hill gives its name to the municipal capital. It is primarily known for its historical significance in oil exploration and exploitation. The Primavera region is located in the northern part of the Province of Tierra del Fuego. The Primavera region has the unique characteristic of being the Chilean region with access to the Atlantic Ocean. With extensive Patagonian steppe, covered with native flora and its typical fauna like Guanacos and numerous species of birds, such as ducks, black-necked swans, as well as coscoroba swans and Chilean flamingo is a species that can be observed throughout Patagonia.
